4 Ways To Boost Hydration
Our bodies are 60 to 80 percent water so when we say hydration is everything, we mean it.
As a busy executive, you have a lot to do in a given day and just keeping up with email in between it all can be hard enough. Sure, you do your best to make healthy choices each day—exercise, a coffee and a decent breakfast, maybe you order in a quick salad and diet coke to eat at your desk for lunch. You might even splurge for mid-afternoon pick me up with an espresso or sweet treat to get you through the rest of the day. You handled it all, unblocked the team, and took care of yourself. But did you drink water?
Our bodies are 60 to 80 percent water so when we say hydration is everything, we mean it. Every organ and cell in your body needs water for proper functioning and detoxification, but most of us don’t get nearly enough of it. Here are our favorite tips to stay properly hydrated:
1. High Quality Ounces
Not all water is created equally — and some is much cleaner than others. When you can, choose still filtered spring water and start drinking early in the day to get plenty of it. You should aim to get half of your body weight (in ounces) of water per day. Calculate that by taking your body weight (in pounds) and divide that by 2. That number of ounces of water you should aim to consume each day.
2. Clean Electrolytes
You lose electrolytes throughout the day, especially if you’re exercising and sweating often. These are essential minerals you body needs like sodium, potassium, and magnesium. While many electrolyte drinks and powers often have added sugar or artificial sweeteners that can be counterproductive to your health, there are plenty of natural ways to supplement your water. Try adding lemon and pink Himalayan salt to your water or grab a fresh young coconut or organic coconut water to add electrolytes.
3. Eat Your Water
Like humans, plants have their own hydration systems. Fruits and veggies are loaded with water — some as much as 90 percent — that you get when you eat them. Think about the watery crunch of a cucumber or bell better and the juiciness of an orange or peach. Plus, when you hydrate with high H2O foods you’re also getting added benefits like fiber, vitamins, minerals and even protein you can’t get from water alone.
4. IV Therapy
Truthfully, you’re probably more dehydrated than you want to accept but perhaps it feels like there is no amount of water you can drink in a single day to catch up. We’ve been there! When you’re in a real deficit, we leverage IV hydration services to get us back on track. These are simple and safe intravenous procedures that you can find in local clinics to get you rehydrated in as little as 30mins.
